Morning report

Sarah was off the ventilator for about two hours last night. As she continues to grow, her breathing tube has more room to more around, and it got to the point that they needed to pull it out and reposition it. They wanted to see how she could breathe on her own, which she managed to do for quite a while. However, at her size, it just takes too much energy to keep the chest rising and falling, and she's not getting enough calories for all the exercise. So, they put her back on the ventilator.

The nurses, thankfully, were able to take some pictures of Sarah without the tube. We'll post them as soon as they process the pictures. I can't wait! We're going to ask them if they can call us next time Sarah's tube is removed, so we can have some time with our baby without any machines, even if it is at 1:30 in the morning.

How exciting, and scarey! God bless our little girl. So little Sarah outgrew her first item.... her breathing tube. That's progress! Roger and Erika, you two are the most loving parent! I hope you get the opportunity, even at 1:30 in the morning, to have a glimps of what is to come! I love you three!

THANK YOU ROGER AND ERICA
We are so happy to get this update. It is our breakfast conversation and our dinner conversation..."How is Sarah doing? Did Erica or Roger update the website. What was the news? Did they send pictures? Let's go look at her!" I'm glad to hear she tolerated the ventilator. Seeing Sarah without the tubes will be very touching. You guys are such great parents. Take care of each other. (I'm sure you are.)

Sending much love,
Rosemary, Jay, Katherine, Margaret and Charlie

PS: Hi Carol...I see you are checking the website also...we are the first to simultaneously post. Happy grandmotherhood!!!

Sarah,
you are going to become an athlete very soon and not need any help. Mommy and Tatty and I will be there rooting you on just like now.
Did they show you your new blankets???
Hi Carol, I know you are there all the time and it feels good to know your healing hands are into everything. Love & Kisses

The Martins are pretty excited about the great progress Sarah is making--way to go, strong little-one! Love to all the Rees family, and to Erika's family, too!
